Vincent Van Gogh's Project
Description
This art project was inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's 'Starry Night.' We learned about Vincent Van Gogh's life and art works throughout his career. We wrote down three things that we learned before we started our project. Then, we got to create a project that used his techniques! We all grabbed a piece of construction paper and covered it with tissue paper. Everyone got to choose the color scheme they wanted to use. After that step was complete, we used oil pastels to create "moving" lines throughout the piece of paper. Next, you chose your landscape. I made a shape that is similar to the one in the original 'Starry Night.' Then, I added hills and trees. I wanted mine to look like you were in an environment where you would hike!
Extension Activity
An extension activity that students could do is creating their own story that describes their picture. Each student created their own environment that they imagined. They can write a paper or tell a story to the class about what is going on in the picture!
